Research

The Alzheimer Society of Cambridge supports research financial through donations received from fundraising activities. Each year, the Chapter makes a commitment to donate a portion of revenue to research.

For up-to-date information on current research, please visit the Alzheimer Society of Canada website.

A new resource connecting the public with the latest in Alzheimer's disease research was announced at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease 2010. This new resource is a website called the Alzheimer's Association "Resource Centre".

Research Studies

The Alzheimer Society encourages families to participate in research studies. We track the research that require participants, and where appropriate, contact individual and families to see if they are interested in participation in the study.

The Toronto Memory Program

The Toronto Memory Program is a community based facility dedicated to medical diagnosis, treatment, and education for those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Toronto Memory Program has been an active C5R clinical research site for over 10 years. As such, in addition to standard treatment, we have been able to offer important research opportunities to a large number of individuals with dementia.

As public awareness of Alzheimer’s disease grows, inquiries from the general public have increased. Many inquiries are directly related to how to access “new therapies” under development.  Recently, local Alzheimer chapters have been asking for our assistance in directing clients by providing a list of our active research trials.

In response to the above requests, I am enclosing our current clinical trials list. Please note that this list serves only as a guide, since new trials will be added at our facility as the field advances. Individuals are welcome to contact us directly to discuss specific trials of interest.  We will also endeavor to provide you with an updated list periodically.

Yours Sincerely,

Sharon Cohen, MD FRCPC

Behavioural Neurologist and Director
