940 King St E, Cambridge

Coffee, Goodies, Entertainment

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

A cup of coffee can make a big difference for individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's Disease.  During the month of September, people in our community come together for coffee to  support the Alzheimer Society of Cambridge.

You can host a Coffee Break!

You can host a Coffee Break anytime in September.  It can be as easy as putting a poster and donation box by the coffee pot at work or as much fun as gathering people together for a special Coffee Break with tea, coffee and sweets.  We provide suggestions and Host Kits with everything you need, including coffee, to make your Coffee Break a success.

You can sponsor or donate!

Sponsorship opportunities are available, including cash and in-kind support.

See below for more information - "What is Coffee Break".

During September 2010, we held our 15th Annual Coffee Break supported by 50 hosts and participants in Cambridge and North Dumfries. We raised over $30,000.00 !

Thank you to everyone who hosted, volunteered and donated to our event.  We are proud of our new connections with churches, businesses and individuals, so we can continue to provide...

"Help for today, hope for tomorrow"

What is Coffee Break?

Coffee Break is an annual nation-wide fundraiser in support of local Alzheimer Societies across Canada held in September. Coffee Break can take many forms, and hosts are invited to be creative. At its essence, guests are invited to Coffee Break to make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee.

The funds raised during Coffee Break help to provide programs and support towards those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias.

How to get involved:

Individuals can get involved by hosting a Coffee Break at home, at work, or anywhere in the community.  Businesses can show support for the Alzheimer Society by hosting a Coffee Break, selling and displaying Buck-a-Cup decals, or through sponsorship opportunities.

Upon registration, we will provide you with a Coffee Break kit, including coffee, a donation box, and informational posters and pamphlets.

How to register:

To register, please fill out and mail the following form to the Alzheimer Society of Cambridge at 940 King St. E., Cambridge ON, N3H 3P3.  The form can be found here.

Alternatively, register by contacting us at 519-650-1628, or send an email to admin@alzheimercambridge.on.ca.

Feel free to get creative!

Traditionally, Coffee Break can be as simple as inviting guests over for coffee and collecting donations, or setting out a donation box by the coffee pot at work.  Many people, however, like to add their own creative twist!

Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

AT HOME AT WORK AT CHURCH

GAMES NIGHT

Set out a donation box and pull out the classic games or a deck of cards for a fun-filled evening.

POT-LUCK

Arrange for guests to each bring a food dish and enjoy.

HIGH TEA

Arrange entertainment for your guests. Charge a loonie or two for admission. Serve coffee, tea and sweets. Have fun!

QUILTING & CRAFTS

Invite your friends and neighbours over for a night of fun making crafts, sewing or quilting, with donations to the Alzheimer Society.

LUNCH HOUR SPEAKER

Invite a speaker for a short talk. Serve coffee & snacks and collect donations.

CRAFTY CORNERS

Invite your coworkers to donate handiwork towards a craft sale with proceeds towards the Alzheimer Society.

POT-LUCK

Arrange for coworkers to each bring a food dish and enjoy.

MORNING MUFFIN HOUR

Sell fresh muffins and coffee as staff are arriving to work.

DRESS DOWN DAY

Have participating employees dress casually for a day, or even choose a theme!

AFTER-SERVICE COFFEE

Serve coffee after church service. Set out donation boxes and enjoy!

CHURCH MEETING

Set out donation boxes during any regular church meeting (youth groups, social groups, etc.)

BAKE/CRAFT SALE

Plan a bake or craft sale with proceeds going towards the Alzheimer Society.
